Being a site by gamers for gamers, Critical Frag is looking for volunteers to write articles, reviews, opinion pieces.  As a volunteer you will work long grueling hours in a box with only a flashlight to keep you company as you slave away inscribing ruminations!  All those that accept these eminent condiontions will also be subjected to being continuously poked by a midget with a giant foam finger!  If this sounds like fun, register with the site and let us know how you would like to contribute.

Fear: Project Origin

Prepare To Pee Your Pants Again.

"Alma is the anchor for the game's universe. With a lot of horror sequels, the audience tends to come back for the monsters, not the heroes. I think the first game set up a very interesting premise for the next installment by raising the stakes and expanding the threat dramatically."…

Granted I'm late and a dollar short with this, but hey, it's still worth mentioning.  The cat's out of the bag and a new Star Wars MMO is in development from BioWare that will take place in the Knights of the Old Republic time line.  While many of us worship at the altar of BioWare for years of great RPG's, many gamers are still holding their breath until there is something tagible.

Star Wars is a very lucrative franchise and BioWare's original Knights of the Old Republic added breath of fresh air and a new out look of the universe.  For those that suffered through Sony Online Entertainment and Lucas Arts' Star Wars Galaxies, visions of KOTOR online danced through their heads.

KOTOR online has the potential to be a huge hit with a mamoth IP and a widely popular developer in Bioware, but not all is rosey in the world of online games.  Large numbers of gamers have expressed massive disappointment in the use of KOTOR as an online game.  They feel that the world should stay single player unscaved and untouched by the thousands of MMO trolls that are lurking in the dark to ruin "their" experience.  Another factor is the element of MMO burnout.  Since the release of the massively popular World of Warcraft, the MMO market has become saturated in a sea of WoW clones and other MMO's that have been either done fairly well or have been a massive flop.  Gamers are expressing their weariness of the, "same mechanics; different skin" of current MMO's.  While the Star Wars universe will keep the hardcore fans, the gameplay may not be enough to retain a significant number of people if BioWare doesn't take a new approach the genre.

For now, it is a dream to dream and hopes are high as the SWG refugees have been drifting for years looking for a place to call home.  Hopefully BioWare will deliver an experience only they can deliver, but again, gamers from all walks of life are sitting in anticipation with cautious optimism.
